FOCUS OF QUICKSTART

The QuickStart Professional Services engagement provides for a rapid return on Investment (ROI) from your Yellowfin Analytics subscription. It is aimed at assisting new partners/customers with their first Yellowfin engagement and delivering the first solution consisting of a set of Views/Reports/Dashboards.

From experience, we know that it is crucial for a management team to have the ability to report from the base systems and data.

CONNECTING TO YOUR DATA

With the QuickStart we propose to focus on the extraction and loading of data from the organisation’s operational systems (like an ERP or CRM solution) to the reporting database or reporting directly from the data source if possible.

It is however recommended that there be a reporting warehouse or data warehouse, as well as an agreed set of Reports/ Dashboards, with Trending and Analytics (Bl) Capabilities.

THE OUTCOME

This will position your organisation’s team to further focus on expanding on the set of initial deliverables including Reports & Dashboards, using the self-service capability of Yellowfin, after the completion of the QuickStart.

The outcome of the QuickStart will be a fully implemented environment, with regular data loads, reports and dashboards as per agreed specification, that can immediately go into production.

Depending on the specific details, which vary from customer to customer, this is typically a 5-day engagement, that could span a few weeks.

PHASED APPROACH

Phase one: Define detailed deliverables for QuickStart Services engagement

– Kick-off: To engage AIGS Insights and customer teams and establish deliverables and objectives as well as define the project scope for the QuickStart project.

– Technical Discovery Workshop: To discover technical environment, challenges and objectives required for go-live

– Data Readiness Workshops: Refinement of data related requirements and time allocated to supporting delivery of key system configurations

Phase two:

– Environment setup & development of solution: Implementation Workshops — Full installation, Setup of data connections, design and develop imports (data Load) and views, reports & dashboards as per agreed scope from the Discovery Workshop. Creation of users, roles and access control.

– Design & UX Workshops: Design & refinement of the end user experience, to include the customer branding, and corporate image.

– Based on the outcome of the Discovery Workshop the actual connection to a data source, the creation of the imports and Yellowfin Views for the data sources and the development of identified solution will begin. This typically consists of Import Scripts, Views, Reports, Dashboards, Storyboards development and showcase the collaboration and exception-based reporting capabilities.

– Showcase and go-live workshop: In this session the primary users are taken through the environment, reports and dashboards.

– Handover and signoff.

QUICKSTART PREREQUISITES

  • Each project will be based on the premise that the necessary data for reporting purposes is accessible by Yellowfin via a direct Database connection or an ETL
    process.
  • Our prior experience confirms that Yellowfin has the capability to establish a direct connection to most SQL-based databases.
  • If data is accessed directly from the source database, there might be a requirement for:
    • VPN/Port forwarding to allow access or additional connections.
    • 3rd Party Database and/or API drivers and configuration, as well as additional effort.
  • These items will be discussed during the Discovery session.
